About John F. Kennedy Recreation & Aquatic Center

Recently overhauled to include new diving boards, dressing rooms and other improvements, the facility offers water aerobics classes, basketball, track classes , karate lessons, boxing and weight rooms for both men and women. The JFK pool was used for training by 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Cullen Jones of Irvington. In addition, JFK hosted the 2002 U.S. Youth Games Swimming competition. First Impression Was Horrible. Literally Only In There 5 Mins (If That) Security Guards Carrying Guns (Like Why? This Is A Pool) Metal Detectors⦠Yeah I Felt Like I Was Walking Into Rikers Lol. And Lastly The Staff Is Super Unprofessional & Super Rude. Never Again Lol

Very rude , I had called to asked questions and the individual that picked up the phone just said we are ready to close and kept repeating himself without letting me ask a simple question! Why did you pick up the phone in the first place. It's unfortunate I wasn't even being disrespectful. But I guess if you are disrespectful then people will pay attention to you. When your nice people just walk all over you on the phone. Very disappointed! Mind you it was 6:55 when I called and the website says closes on Fridays at 8pm.

A real gem for kids in Newark. I like the fact that n kids can openly play here during the week and on Saturdays. Kids and adults played basketball, amd volleyball. I was told they have track, their own basketball team, martial arts and more. There is a well equipped gym for 18 and up. They have memberships less than $10. Open play for kids looks like 8 and up are free. They provide the equipment to play. Only thing is the floors were super slippery because of the salt. Have a large bucket of water at the door whith towels during this time.... clean the gym floor well and have everyone when they sign their name or by the metal detectors step in the water and dry rub them off with the towel. Change out the water when needed. This will help in the winter from snow. Overall my son cant wait to go back. I wish they had more places this closer to home.
